Paper Perjury
Paper Perjury, an indie mystery-adventure game by Paper Cat Games, will launch on November 13, 2024, and will be available on Steam for PC, including support for Windows, Mac, and Linux. A free demo of the game is also accessible on Steam, letting players preview the intriguing detective experience ahead of its official release.
In Paper Perjury, players assume the role of Justina Smith, a new clerk at Azure City’s police department, who soon finds herself embroiled in a series of criminal cases. Working alongside detectives Ernest Hunt and Sophie Swift, Justina must investigate crime scenes, interrogate suspects, and connect clues to solve each case. Inspired by games like Ace Attorney, Paper Perjury offers a narrative-driven experience focused on evidence collection and deductive reasoning, requiring players to expose lies and unravel a complex mystery across five distinct cases.
Paper Perjury’s gameplay integrates classic detective elements with modern twists. The game features over 120,000 words of dialogue, with characters ranging from a cowboy barber to a tea-loving lawyer, each adding depth to the game’s setting and storyline. Adding to the immersive experience, players can explore Azure City’s themes of urban development and gentrification, providing a realistic context that connects with contemporary social issues. The game’s pixel art visuals, jazzy soundtrack, and quirky side characters, including a lovable cat companion, enhance the atmosphere and make for a vibrant and engaging gameplay environment.
Paper Cat Games is a small indie team based in California, aiming to blend traditional mystery elements with engaging, modern storytelling. Paper Perjury marks their first major release, showing their dedication to crafting a narrative-rich experience that combines humor, mystery, and complex character dynamics.
