Bohemia Interactive has officially announced that Arma 4 will be released in 2027. This news came during the closing moments of Bohemia’s 25th Anniversary Concert, accompanied by striking footage of a coastal landscape without any guns.

Arma 4 was initially revealed back in 2022. Bohemia stated that Arma Reforger would serve as a bridge to Arma 4, acting as a testing ground for the new Enfusion engine. This allowed modders to experiment while also giving developers valuable player feedback. Reforger officially exited early access in November 2023, with its final update introducing a revamped supply system and a feature resembling fast travel.
For those unfamiliar with Arma, the series is renowned for its focus on realism. It’s so authentic that the U.S. Army has used these games for training purposes. Bohemia Interactive has an intriguing history, including a time when their developers were detained by Greek police for taking research photos of military installations. They had a division dedicated to creating training simulations, which was sold off in 2013 and now operates as Bohemia Interactive Simulations.
In addition to their military simulation games, Bohemia is also known for DayZ, an expansive open-world zombie survival experience that began early access in 2013. While I may not have been deeply invested in Arma, the intricate injury systems in DayZ have inspired some of my favorite video game stories. With Arma 4 on the horizon, I might consider diving deeper into Arma: Reforger before its release—after all, there’s no rush!
Overall, Arma 4 seems poised to continue the series’ legacy of realism and immersive gameplay. Fans have plenty of time to anticipate what’s next as we approach the 2027 release date.
